So sorry to hear about Bob's passing. He was a great friend to have on the trails!

“May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. May your mountains rise into and above the clouds. May your rivers flow without end, meandering through pastoral valleys tinkling with bells, past temples and castles and poets’ towers into a dark primeval forest where tigers belch and monkeys howl, through miasmal and mysterious swamps and down into a desert of red rock, blue mesas, domes and pinnacles and grottos of endless stone, and down again into a deep vast ancient unknown chasm where bars of sunlight blaze on profiled cliffs, where deer walk across the white sand beaches, where storms come and go as lightning clangs upon the high crags, where something strange and more beautiful and more full of wonder than your deepest dreams waits for you — beyond that next turning of the canyon walls.”

– Edward Abbey, as quoted in Desert Solitaire

That's where I picture Bob, with loppers in hand and a welcoming smile on his face

Bob, Art, and I (and a few more people) use to backpack together with the Green Mountain Club. About a year ago, I visited Bob (and Art) after not seeing them for a long while. I'm so glad I did. I just found out today of his passing and am sad to not have been at his funeral. He was a kind-hearted, funny, and all around great guy. He will be missed.

I met Bob through my uncle when we got together at the "intersectionals" where hikers got together for day hikes on the Long Trail from 1984-1988, and was glad to correspond with him via linked-in a few years back. He was as helpful and engaging as could be. If there is a Mount Eden in heaven, I hope to meet you there again. RIP

Bob was a very special friend. I met him on a CFPA trail in 2002 and he spent a lot of time teaching me how to be a good trail worker and trails manager. Bob was always joyful and a true pleasure to be with. I will miss him deeply, he was a very special, special person. May our Lord bless an keep you Bob. I look forward to meeting you on one of the trails in heaven. God Bless.

Got a call this afternoon that Bob has passed. What a shock. We were neighbors on Nagy Road for several years until 1997 when we moved to Florida. Bob and my husband Bob were friends. He planted a wonderful garden every year and always invited us to take whatever we wanted. He was a good friend and neighbor to us in CT, and he always sent a Christmas card every year since we moved. I will miss that this Christmas. RIP Bob, you will be missed. My prayers to his family. He was a wonderful person, and we are better for him.
