Katherine was a good friend to my mother, Camilla Chmura. She was a kind and caring friend. I am sorry to learn of her death. I always considered Katherine a strong woman who overcame struggles. She was an independent person. Our family were the recipients of her delicious pierogies and produce from her garden. She lived a long life and I was glad to have known her.

Growing up as a neighbor to Katherine I along as many other neighbors helped her out. I spent many summer days helping with yard work and winter days shoveling her driveway. Payment although never needed was always vegetables or candy. She was always outside doing yard work and would always wave. Sad to see her go but she is no longer in pain. Rest in peace

I will miss her. As I know her as Miss Kay. She was one of my favorite customers at Ocean State job lot in Willimantic. She would come in on the weekends. I would make sure that she only came to me. She would make my day. Every time she came in we would talk. She always put a smile on my face. There is another thing to she wanted things her way and her way only. I got worried when she would not come on for a while. But when then she would show up. I would run into her at other places and I would stop and say hi and talk. She will be missed. I will miss her on the weekends.
She is now looking over all of us.

I have so many fond memories of Katherine that I do not know where to begin. I've known her for over 20 years, first meeting her when I moved into an upper floor apartment on South Street in Willimantic. I would walk around the neighborhood with a stroller or wagon with small children. We met through Rita and Camilla and others.

She sat around my table when I hosted a traditional tea for all these grandmotherly friends. She has given me seedlings and seeds and many of the flowers she gave me still bloom. They always remind me of her. I am the recipient of many a chocolate bar and cookie when I would go to visit her.

I've addressed envelopes for her so she could send her Christmas greetings. One year, she was perplexed at the stamps because she couldn't get them on the envelopes. She was accustomed to licking them. These stamps that she had were the self-stick ones. What a divine epiphany when she learned how to use them. This story still brings a smile to my face.

I am so sad that she is gone and I didn't get a chance to say goodbye to her! I will always have fond memories of Katherine. She was a gem among many pieces of coal in life. I will sorely miss her.

Katherine was a neighbor when I lived on Pemberton Rd. I occasionally helped her with something around the house as did others. Repayment, although very unnecessary, was always made in the currency of the pierogi or stuffed cabbage! Yummy. I am relieved for her now. Rest in peace.
