Pedro J. Rosado

Pedro J Rosado, 86, of Willimantic, husband of Aurea Rosado, passed away on January 9, 2018. He was born on April 29, 1932 to the late Mario Irizarry and Amelia Rosado in Ponce, Puerto Rico. In the early 1950’s Pedro moved to New York with his mother and sisters. In 1954, he met the young lady who would become his wife, Aurea. The two married on July 23, 1955 and had five daughters.  Pedro and his family moved to Willimantic in 1996. He was known to his friends and family as “Mr. Yankee” because he was a big fan of the New York Yankees and was often seen wearing a t-shirt or hat representing his favorite team. Pedro worked at The Chronicle for seven years and more recently at Walmart as a door greeter for eight years.  In addition to his wife, Aurea, of 63 years; he is survived by four daughters, Gladys Rosario and her husband David, Amy Maldonado and husband Rady, Naomi Rosado, and Laurie Ann Sanchez and her husband Pete; adopted daughter Emily Rivera; brother, Pedro Juan and his wife Marta and his son Juan; 14 grandchildren, Larissa, Linnet, Pedro Radames, RJ, PeeJay, Maggie, Shirley, Santy, Shirmaira, Sharis, Aureann, Chirisse, Christopher and Lauren; 18 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.  He was predeceased by his daughter Evelyn in 1998.  Pedro’s family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195), Willimantic.  Burial will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook St. I-91 Tech Center, Rocky Hill, CT 06067 or Alzheimer’s Association Connecticut Chapter, 200 Executive Blvd. S. #4b, Southington, CT 06489.  For an online memorial guestbook please visit www.potterfuneralhome.com.
