On January 2, 2019, the Good Lord came and invited his loving daughter, Mary Stanton Palmer home after 103 wonder-filled years on this earth. Mary was born in Derby, Connecticut the daughter of Frank and Mabel Stanton and grew up in Putnam.

She earned a scholarship to Pembroke College that allowed her to study at Brown University where she graduated top of her class. After graduation, she married Edward Palmer and they moved to Storrs where he worked as an Assistant Professor at the University of Connecticut. She earned her Master of Library Science degree and worked for many years as the school librarian at Sweeney Elementary School in Willimantic CT.

In her spare time, she cooked, knitted, and played bridge. Her wanderlust took her and the family all over the world. The family lived in Zambia for three years and travelled to China, Malaysia, Europe, Australia and South America. She outlived most of her friends and family, leaving behind her brother, Paul Stanton (Putnam), several cousins, nieces and nephews, her son, Kevin Palmer (Honolulu), daughter, Jill Barger and her husband Devon Barger (St Augustine) and her two grandsons, Deston Barger (Boston) and John Sopa (Honolulu).

Services at 1:00 pm SCC, burial to follow, luncheon at 2:30 at the Storrs Congregational Church

Mary credited her good health to staying busy and not eating processed foods.

The Family wishes to thank Tammy Kelly, Silvia Wideman and Pat Kuykendall for their loving care during Mary's last five years at home in St Augustine.

Services will be on Saturday. January 12, 2019 1:00 at the Storrs Congregational Church with burial in the Storrs Cemetery.  Luncheon to follow at 2:30 at the Storrs Congregational Church.
