   Florimond D. Lussier (Lou), 92, passed away on September 30, 2017 at home, surrounded by the love of his family. Born June 12, 1925 in Willimantic, son of the late Donat and Irene (Jolie) Lussier, and lived here most of his life.   Served in the Navy in Corpus Christi as an Aviation Metal Smith during WWII, and returned to Willimantic to raised his family. Florimond was a member of the ELKS, and the Lodge’s 52nd Exalted Ruler (1965-1966), he was the eldest living past Exalted Ruler with 49 years. 

He graduated from Willimantic State Teacher's College, now known as Eastern Connecticut State University.  He was known for his passionate enthusiasm for teaching students one on one to ensure their success. Florimond displayed creativity and love of science by conducting numerous experiments in his classroom lab. He taught science in the Windham School System at Kramer Middle School until his retirement. He lived in Florida for many years after his retirement before returning to Connecticut two years ago to live with his son.

Florimond is survived by a daughter, Donna Bashwiner of Vancouver, WA; son John Lussier Sr.; daughter-in-law Donna Lussier of Scotland CT; a brother G. Edward Lussier and one sister Pauline Mc Quade of Lake Park FL; two grandchildren, John Lussier Jr and his wife Jacqueline of Scotland and Katie Bauckman and her husband Kyle of East Orange NJ; three great grandchildren Alex Bauckman, Addison Lussier and Charlotte Bauckman.  

He was predeceased by his son Gerard (Jerry) Lussier and ex-wife Beatrice Lussier.  Honoring Florimond’s wishes, there will be a graveside service on Saturday October 7, 2017 at 11:00am at Saint Joseph Cemetery, Club Road, Windham, CT.  For an online memorial guestbook please visit
