To Daena’s family-
I am so sad to hear of Daena’s passing. I had worked with Denise and have followed Daena’s adventures on Facebook for many years. My granddaughter and I fondly read about her travels with her American Girl dolls, their trips to the spa and other amazing destinations. She had an amazing spirit and energy.
(My fb account was out of commission since August; my apologies for not writing sooner.)

Dear family of Daena,
I am sorry to hear of your loss. As a young person with younger brothers and sisters, I cannot imagine how difficult this time must be for your family. I would like to share an encouraging message with you. It says, "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away”(Revelation 21:4). Here, God promises us that soon, we will not loose people that we love to death. I enjoyed working with Daena while she was at Porter. She always had a smile on her face . We would talk about Daisy and my two cats. Ernie and I enjoyed doing the motorcycle run for little hearts. We have a beautiful picture of Daena sitting on the motorcycle .Our thoughts are with all of you at this very sad time.

Daena was such a special light at Porter. We send you our deepest sympothies at such a difficult time. It was always such a pleasure to see Daena with all her friends in the gym on the occasions I was able to attend Unified Sports. She always had that beautiful smile on her face and light in her eyes! Daena has had such an impact on my family that it has taken me until now to be able to even visit this website. Sending all of her family and friends love and prayers at this difficult time. She had such a sweet soul and we feel very, very, very fortunate for the time we were able to spend with her. She will always be remembered and missed by Mayson, Carter & family.

We will always remember Daena as Dawson's first valentine. He loved giving her gifts to see how happy they made her. He enjoyed spending time with her at Porter. Her courage and determination is such an inspiration. Our thoughts are with her family.

When we first moved to Columbia, there was a gazebo lighting, and we had the privilege of sitting at the same table as you guys. I have also seen you guys in passing, WOW, and other HWP functions. Daena was such a light, a joy, a beautiful person. Sending our deepest sympathies during this very difficult time. She will never be forgotten!

Being in Vermont my times seeing Daena were short but memorable. She was a beautiful angel and my heart hurt when I heard the news! I am so sorry for your loss and know she is now free and out of pain but it doesn't make the sadness and loss any better at the time.
I unfortunately cannot make the services but know a donation to the camp in her name will be done. May you find peace in her memories

My daughter's and I had the pleasure of knowing Daena and were blessed to spend time with Daena at picnics, chili cook offs and at outdoor movies and fires. Daena was a JOY to teach, and always had a smile and a funny comment to make in the art room! When she showed up, it would literally light up the room. All eyes were on Daena, who truly was a princess and a delightful human being.
I hope you have her artwork displayed proudly in your home, as even though she may have not felt well, she always pressed through and finished her projects!! She remains a testimony of strength, faith, persistence, love and acceptance and I will forever remember her as an example to her generation of these traits! Love you all, and big hugs from me.

The world is a better place because Daena made it that way. My life has been enriched because I was fortunate enough to share some of it with that little darling. I will hold my "Daena memories" close and call on them when I need a smile. Daena will be missed, but NEVER forgotten.
