Gretchen “Betty” (Beckwith) Therrien Tellier, 89, of Lebanon, CT died peacefully July 18, 2016. Betty was born in Willimantic, CT to Alfred C. Beckwith and Gretchen L. Vegiard. She was predeceased by her two husbands, Homer R. Therrien and Marcel J. Tellier, and sister, Louise M. Pratt. Betty is survived by a brother, Alfred P. Beckwith of Windham; her children Cynthia Sposito and her husband James, of Coventry; Thomas A. Therrien and his wife Carolyn, of East Hartford; Susan Martineau and her husband Glenn, of Willimantic; and David C. Therrien of Lebanon. She also leaves four grandchildren: Jesica Pagano-Therrien and her spouse, Chris; Melani Wilcox and her spouse, Ryan; Travis Therrien; and Amy Sposito; and four great-grandsons, Ely, Brantley, Leo and Kye.
Betty graduated from Windham High School in 1944. She retired from Sears Roebuck & Co. and in 1996 from the Town of Lebanon, where she worked as Assistant Tax Collector. Betty was a lifetime member of The Grange. She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Lebanon. Betty enjoyed baking, gardening, and most of all, she loved when her family gathered for holidays and other special occasions.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson Street, Willimantic on Friday, July 22 from 5 PM to 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 67 West Town Street, Lebanon on Saturday, July 23 at 10 AM. The family requests that everyone go directly to the church. Burial will follow at Windham Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org/ct), or St. Francis of Assisi Church.
