,My sincere condolences to Carl’s family and loved ones. Carl and I crossed paths when we were at Windham High School. We started up a band called The Sunns. Did a lot of practicing in his basement and played quite a few gigs. He was a talented drummer and a super nice guy, full of energy and always upbeat. Sadly, we did not cross paths again.

My condolences to the Kusmer family. During our high school years we were part of
a small group of local rail enthusiasts. Our paths diverged after that, but I do recall
working together with Carl at the Valley Railroad in Essex, at least one season maybe about 30 years ago, and more recently seeing him at the railroad museum.
Carl was one those fortunate individuals able to turn his passion into his life's work.
We can't do much better than that.

My condolences to the Kusmer family. I just recently got back in communication with his brother Paul after many years. Carl and I were the only railroad fans I knew growing up in Willimantic, and the Kusmer's lived about 200 yards from our house. I recall Carl and I horsing around with his H-O model trains he had in the basement of their home. We had also taken several fan trips to Vermont back in the 60's together on the Central Vermont Railroad. He encouraged my interest in railroading, and as such, have been a locomotive engineer for almost 16 years. I owe a lot to Carl and have thought of him many times over the years. Thanks for your encouragement, Carl, and for all you gave me. And what a sense of humor he had! Again, condolences to Gladys, Paul, and Anne.
