Bruce A. Shirshac

Bruce A. Shirshac, 72, of Lebanon, CT beloved husband of Marilyn (Benoit) Shirshac, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Hartford Hospital after a brief battle with cancer.  Born January 5, 1945 to the late Henry and Theresa (Lussier) Shirshac of Coventry, CT, he graduated from Windham High School in 1962 and served in the U.S. Army from 1963-1966. Upon his return, he worked at the family's service station in Willimantic and as a surveyor for the State of Connecticut Dept. of Transportation in Norwich, retiring after 30 years.  He enjoyed reading, spending time with family and planting his annual vegetable garden.  In addition to his wife of 49 years, he leaves behind a daughter Carleen Morneau and her husband Robert of Ellington, son David Shirshac and his wife Kim of Columbia, grandchildren Megan and Marisa Morneau and Connor and Katelyn Shirshac, sister Helene Potter of Columbia, brothers Kenneth and his wife Janice Shirshac of Columbia, Wayne and his wife Debbie Shirshac of British Columbia, CANADA, Robert and his wife Cyndi Shirshac of East Hampton, and many nieces, nephews and longtime friends.  He was predeceased by two sisters Shirley Anderson and Carol Shirshac, a brother-in-law Arthur Potter and nephew Michael Potter.  Bruce’s family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday January 18, 2017 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195), Willimantic.  His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday January 19, 2017 at 11:00am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 67 West Town Street, Lebanon, CT.  Burial to follow at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to the Jonathan Trumbull Library, 580 Exeter Road, Lebanon, CT 06249.  For an online memorial guestbook please visit www.potterfuneralhome.com.
