William Ennis "Jack" Obituary

William J. Ennis “Jack”, 86, of Storrs and formerly of Clinton, passed away February 11, 2020 amidst family and friends at Cobalt Health Care.  Born December 20, 1933 in Belfast Northern Ireland, he was the son of William and Jean Ennis.  Jack arrived in America in 1959, and two days later started working as a bookkeeper for Chesebrough Ponds in Clinton, where he went on to live his “American Dream” before retiring as Corporate Credit & Collections Manager, 30 years later.  He was pre-deceased by his loving wife Vera of almost 55 years and his children; daughter, Allison of Charlestown, RI and her Fiancée Richard Shaw; and son Michael, and his wife, Laurie, of Groton.  Jack is also survived by his five grandchildren whom he dearly loved, Hobey, Will, Mackenzie, Cameron and Delaney; and by his two-year-old great granddaughter, Sadie, who rocked his world! He was also pre-deceased by his brother Sam, who is survived by Jack’s sister-in-law Louise in South Africa, and his nephews, Patrick of Wales and Steve of London.  After retirement Jack and Vera traveled back and forth from CT to Sarasota where they enjoyed the winter months together.  Jack was blessed with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and wonderful friends and family whom he loved, to include his longtime dear friends Nancy and Stan Neibrief of Old Saybrook, Beth French Ennis of Columbia, and “second son” Mike Bryne of Tolland. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 22 at 12:00 noon at Waters Edge in Westbrook.
