William Lawrance Crosthwaite Sr.

January 16, 1940 ~ April 2, 2020 (age 80) 80 Years Old

William Crosthwaite Sr. Obituary

William L. “Bill” Crosthwaite Sr., of Willimantic, died Thursday, April 2, 2020, surrounded by his loving family at the home of his oldest daughter after a long battle with COPD.

Bill was born in Willimantic, January 16, 1940 to the late Percy H. Crosthwaite Jr. and Cecelia B. (Barrett) Crosthwaite.  He grew up in the Willimantic area.  Bill worked various jobs including Kramer’s Greenhouse, the Town of Mansfield, Willimantic Lumber & Coal, Schilberg Iron & Metal and retired from Willimantic Waste Paper at the age of 70.  He was a truck driver for many years until his eye sight started to fail.

He married his first wife in 1964 and together they had two sons.  He married Charlene L. (Messier) in April 1973.  They would have celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary on April 27th.  In January he celebrated his 80th birthday with a huge birthday party given by his daughters and was thrilled to see many old friends.  Bill is survived by his loving wife, Charlene and six children; William Jr. of North Windham, John of Windham Center, Kellie (Bobby) Prescott of Windham, Amber (Peter) Gelinas of Willimantic, Jason of R.I. and Jaime (Danny) Hart of Moosup; a brother, Robert H. Crosthwaite of North Windham and Elisha Sockbeson (whom he considered a daughter-in-law) of Maine; Sixteen grandchildren, Heather, Adam, Kristina, Justin, Jenise, Kayleigh, Spencer, Emily, Ryeleigh, Juquan, Jyquanjha, Aiden, Georgia, Mason, Meeah and Sadie; five great-grandchildren, Hayden, Hogan, Skylar, Piper and Paislee and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was predeceased by a brother, Raymond Crosthwaite, two sisters-in-law Connie and Sally Crosthwaite and a nephew Ricky Crosthwaite.

A special thanks to the ladies at Generations Family Health Center especially, Joy and Donna!  Thanks also for the wonderful care from his doctors including Dr. Glasser, Dr. Bundy, Dr. Mcleod and Dr. Chen.
