Wayne W. Marcotte

Wayne Wilfred Marcotte, 88, of Storrs, CT died on August 26, 2020 of a heart attack following several recent hospitalizations for other health issues.  He is survived by three sons, Brian and his wife Theresa of Andover, James and his wife Fattema and his three granddaughters Sarina, Alvina, and Kylie of Coventry, and son David of Storrs CT.  He is also survived by his sister Ann Root of South Hadley MA, as well as by many nieces and nephews.  He was pre-deceased by his wife Marianne K. (Czaporowski) Marcotte, his sisters Ruth Mazurowski and Fern Quinn, and his brother Donald. 

He was born August 4, 1932, son of Ruth and Joseph Marcotte of South Hadley, MA.  He graduated from the University of Massachusetts, and from the Harvard University School of Business Administration.  He served twenty-three years as an officer in the United States Air Force in a variety of positions in this country and around the world, progressing to the rank of colonel.  His last four years in the Air Force were spent as Professor of Aerospace Studies and Commander of the Air Force ROTC Cadet Corps at the University of Connecticut in Storrs.  Subsequently, he worked fifteen years at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft as a Human Resources Administrator in East Hartford and Middletown, CT.

The Marcotte family have resided in Storrs, CT since 1974.

Wayne enjoyed gardening, cooking, and spending time with his family.

Wayne’s family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, September 4, 2020 from 4:00-6:00pm at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. Willimantic, CT 06226.  A funeral mass will be celebrated at St Thomas Aquinas Church, 46 North Eagleville Road, Storrs, on Saturday, Sept 5th at 10:00 am, with his burial to follow at St Joseph’s cemetery in Windham, CT.
