On October 29, 2023, Walter H. Riopel, 84, of Chaplin, Connecticut, left this earthly life for his heavenly eternal home. He was lovingly known as Walt, Dad, Big Daddy, Grampy, Grandpa, Pop-Pop, and Uncle Wally. Like the sun’s rays, his life touched all of our lives.

Walt adored his family and enjoyed time spent with them celebrating holidays, playing cards, and eating good food. He had a passion for antique toys and spent many hours with his son Wesley in search of antique treasures. He also enjoyed coaching and attending sporting events and concerts to watch his children and grandchildren. Walt was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Cecile (LaChapelle) Riopel. His children Shelley Youens, Walter Riopel, Jr. and his wife Charlotte, Christine (Riopel) Reagan and her husband Thomas, Wesley Riopel and his wife Shari, Cynthia (Riopel) Bourassa and her husband Alain, grandchildren Jonathon, Sarah, Melissa, Rebecca, Christopher, Tyleigh, Alika, Taylor, Madisen, Allison, Anna, and Nathan, great grandchildren James, Isabella, Harper, Margaret, Kathrine, Bennett, Ezra, Annie, Marley, Joyner, Rylan and Chase, siblings, William Riopel, Eloi (Pete) Sevigny, and Ann Sevigny. There are no calling hours. A celebration of life will be held on November 18, 2023 at 1:00PM at the Chaplin Volunteer Fire Department, 106 Phoenixville Rd. Chaplin, Connecticut. Dad, we will miss you and please, have a Bud Light for us.
