The family of Virginia “Ginny” Pace Hellstrom are saddened to announce her passing at age 72; she passed away peacefully by her husband's side on November 20, 2022, in their cozy home in Columbia, CT after a courageous battle with cancer.
Ginny- a Wife, Mother & Grandmother was born on July 3, 1950, in Springfield, MA to James & Antionette (Caravaggi) Pace. She grew up in Enfield, CT and was an avid artist who graduated from Swain School of Design with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Graphic Design, where she then worked for the Hartford Courant for many years after. She married her sweetheart husband, Rob with a beautiful ceremony on August 31, 1974 and raised two handsome young boys together. Ginny’s passion for health and wellness led her to owning and operating her own health food store, where many grew to call her “Dr. Ginny” after helping and touching so many families lives with one little store. For the last 20 years Ginny has worked side by side with her husband to run their successful business, Rob Hellstrom Land Surveying, in Hebron, CT.
Ginny had a group of friends that most would dream of having. What started out as the 9 am workout crew at the local Curves fitness center, turned into a family that became some of her biggest cheerleaders, she was beyond blessed to have them by her side right up to the last hours of her beautiful life. Ginny and her husband Rob lived the most beautiful life together 48 years married. She loved nothing more than to travel and go on adventures with Rob and Belle, their black lab. Some of their favorite spots together were exploring the coast of Maine, the western mountains in New York and many trips to the sunshine state, Florida. Ginny greatly enjoyed nothing more than being in her kitchen cooking for and feeding her family, being with and playing hide and seek with her grandchildren, and just spending time with the ones she loved, especially if it involved a good game of scrabble.
Ginny leaves behind the love of her life, husband, Robert Hellstrom, their two sons- Brice Hellstrom of Clermont, FL with wife Julie along with their two beautiful children Sophia & Liam; Adric Hellstrom of Ellington, CT with wife Jennifer along with their two beautiful children Brayden & Emma; her brother Jim Pace of Enfield, CT with partner Sue, Brother-in-law Edmund (Ted) Hellstrom of East Hampton, CT with wife Beverly; sister-in-law Donna Claus of Ocala, FL, and many many wonderful nieces and nephews sprinkled across the east coast.
Ginny will be greatly missed by so many. A celebration of her life will be held at the Heartstone Winery, 468 Route 87 Columbia, CT 06237 on December 17, 2022 at 1:00pm.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, kindly send donations to the Susan G. Komen Foundation in Ginny's honor. More information on this can be found at http://www.info-komen.org/goto/loveginny.
