Victoria “Vicky” (Woronecki) Mayo, 87, of Mansfield, wife of the late Floyd Mayo, died peacefully on February 19, 2021 at Windham Hospital. She was born in Enfield CT, the daughter of the late Stephen and Louise (Krawiec) Woronecki. Most recently she was a resident at Mansfield Nursing and Rehab Facility where she was well taken care of, made many friends and where she got her weekly fix of Bingo, crafts and other activities thanks to the recreation department.
Vicky was a genuine dog lover, bird watcher and gardener. She especially loved beautiful flowers that attracted butterflies and hummingbirds. Vicky would sit outside for hours watching them. She even had a few land on her after a while. Vicky enjoyed going on whale watches with her grandchildren. With the help of her grandchildren, she had an extensive beanie baby collection which she later donated to the Willimantic Elks Lodge which were given to local nursing homes residents during Christmas Caroling and the Chaplin State Police “Stuff-a-Cruiser” which were given to local children. Vicky loved cooking and baking. She truly enjoyed when her daughters and grandchildren went over for pierogis making parties which would last all day and well into the night sometimes and the outcome was always rewarding and very delicious. Vicky enjoyed reading, doing her word finds, listening to country music, playing bingo (she would usually win) and building puzzles.
Vicky is survived by three daughters and a son, Debra Drouin and her husband Arthur, Donna Peck and her husband Raymond, Floyd (Bo) Mayo, Jr., and Diane Mitchell; a brother, Joseph Woronecki and his wife Cheryl and sister Shirley Kelliher; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Vicky was predeceased by a son Donald Mayo, son-in-law Leo (Phil) Mitchell, brother Stephen Woronecki, Jr., two sisters Stella Steele and JoAnn Schools.
A private graveside service will be held at the New Willimantic Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her husband and son. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehab’s Recreation Department, 100 Warren Circle, Storrs CT 06268.
