Thea Oaks-Wilson

 Thea V. Oaks-Wilson, of Willimantic CT, passed away unexpectedly on April 8, 2021 at age 60.  A lifelong resident of Willimantic, Thea was born on March 16, 1961 to the late Hubert and Audrey (Snell) Oaks.  She attended Windham public schools.  Thea retired from the state of Connecticut. She began her career at the young age of 18 at Mansfield training school, where she met friends who became family.  Thea married her lifetime love William Wilson in 1997, they raised a blended family.  Thea, a nurturer at heart found joy as a caregiver to many.      She was known for doting over their grandchildren.  Thea loved all the kids in the family deeply, as they did her.  The individual connection and bonds she was able to create with each person was unique and very special.  Family was everything both immediate and extended, 3rd and 4th cousins felt like first.  Many remember Thea as the glam queen she was.   She loved to dress up and look good, but may be surprised to know that Thea had a passion for nature; she loved camping, plants, the water, walks and long scenic drives.  She could switch it up with the best of them, meanwhile that switch in her walk never changed no matter the personal battles she was dealing with.  She was loved deeply by many, her free spirit and empathetic soul captured many hearts throughout her life journey. 

Thea was preceded in death by her loving parents, her brothers Aubrey and Hubert Oaks.  She leaves to mourn her beloved William Wilson, her daughter (special niece she raised as her own) Khaalisha Oaks of Oakdale CT, two daughters in love Maxcieen and Jeanne Wilson of Jacksonville Fl, her sister Alfredia Oaks, her brother Seth Oaks both of Willimantic Ct, sister Sherlawn Oaks of South Carolina, her adoring grandchildren (JuQuan, Khaadijah, Sierra, Devante, Javazz, Desia, Maleek, Jovon and Nahjae), a host of nieces, nephews, devoted family and friends. Arrangements have been made by Potter funeral home 456 Jackson St. Willimantic. Thea’s family will receive relatives and friends Thursday, April 22, 2021 from 10:00am to 11:00am at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Willimantic, with her funeral service beginning at 11:00am at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at the New Willimantic Cemetery.
