Steven Gamache Obituary

Steven M. Gamache, 58, of Lebanon, CT passed away peacefully at home on Monday, December 28, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Windham, CT on January 12, 1962, the wonderful, loving son of Anita and Maurice Gamache.

Before graduating from Parish Hill High School in 1979 he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout where he developed his love for helping those in the community. His lifelong passion for baseball would eventually help him begin his family where he met his wife Peggy coaching softball in Willimantic. He went on to coach his son through the Lebanon Recreation Department, winning a Little League championship with the Lebanon Giants, and receiving a Lebanon Volunteer of the Year Award.

Throughout his lifetime of playing sports and coaching he developed many lifelong relationships. Along with softball he played hockey for the Bouberes where he spent a lot of time with his Pond Hockey friends. Steven was a past president of the Willimantic Twilight Baseball and inductee of the WilliMac Softball Hall of Fame. He devoted a lot of time at the Franco American Civic and Social Club where he was a past president, life member, ran Bingo on Sundays, organized the Super Bowl Party, and organized the 100 Club.

When Steven wasn’t working at Delta Commercial Interiors, where he was proud to call his coworkers lifelong friends, he enjoyed spending time in the great outdoors with family and friends. Growing up on the Natchaug River he spent many hours casting at the place where his love for fishing grew. Through his love for fishing he developed a bond that he shared with close friends, going every year to Maine and participating in the “Poacha Classic”, something that he could eventually share with his son.

He enjoyed multiple trips visiting National Parks with his family and has conquered the heights of Mt. Washington numerous times. Through softball he developed relationships in which he would share lifelong memories being among his camping family. Throughout his life he had a deep love for the community and had a special place in his heart for the lives he touched along the way. From his childhood home to time spent with his son, his last cast will be at the place he loved so much.

He will be deeply missed by his loving wife Peggy, son, Joey, parents, Anita and Moe Gamache, brother, Kevin Gamache and wife Cindy, godchildren, Benjamin and Danielle Gamache, sisters-in-law, Cindy Deveny, Dawn Morin and husband Dana, brothers-in-law, Charles Deveny Jr. and wife Georgette, James Deveny and wife Janna, Paul Deveny and wife Jackie.  He will also be missed by his many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.  Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the family will have a private Funeral Mass.
