Sally “Rubia” Chartier passed away on September 3, 2023 after a long and painful battle with substance addiction. Sally was born in Brooklyn, CT on August 17, 1992. She was loved by many and is survived by her daughter Lila Eve Ferrero of East Haddam; her father Normand Chartier and his partner Lynn Clark of Brooklyn; her mother and stepfather, Virginia and Mark Shea of East Haddam. She is also survived by her sister Molly Chartier and her family of Newington, New Hampshire; brother James Potvin and his family of Griswold; sister Gina Burnham and her family of Ashford; brother Sam Chartier and his family of Brooklyn; and brother Matthew Chartier of Vernon. Sally Rubia’s greatest love in this world was her daughter Lila. She was loved by her extensive and supportive family which included many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
In remembrance of Sally Rubia, regardless of her struggles, her life was also punctuated by many wonderful family moments and events that she held dear. She loved the annual Chartier Christmas party, many family vacations to Maine, birthday celebrations and, most of all, being involved in the care of her beautiful daughter Lila. She was an honor student and had a committed faith in Jesus.
