Ruth Randall Obituary

Ruth (Gallup) Randall, of Chaplin, passed away on September 28, 2019. She was born in Putnam, CT on November 6, 1928 to the late John and Ellen (Shaw) Gallup.  Ruth is now reunited with her husband Lawrence who she married on March 18, 1950 and her daughter Patricia who passed away this July. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law James and Sheila Randall of Chaplin; son-in-law Milton Natusch and grandsons Eric and Donald Natusch of Mansfield; brother-in-law and his wife Alfred and Deanna Randall of MA; sister-in-law Barbara Coan of CA; nephews and their wives John and Doreen Bolduc of Chaplin and Al and Kathy Bolduc of AR; nieces Ellen and Becky and nephew David; cousins Paul and Bill Gallup.

Ruth attended grammar and high-school in Putnam and the University of Connecticut in Storrs.  She worked at the telephone company in New Haven.  She was an assistant cook at Chaplin Elementary School. Ruth then worked as an assistant cook at the UConn dorms and later as a housekeeper in the dorms until her retirement.

Ruth was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Chaplin Fire Department and also served on the Board of Directors at the Chaplin Senior Center.  She also enjoyed being a member of the Quilting Club at the Chaplin Senior Center.  The quilts were donated both to the Windham-Tolland 4-H camp and Chaplin bazaars for fund-raising raffles.  Christmas was a favorite time of year for Ruth.  She selected each gift and stuffed stockings special to the individuals who received them. She was an avid reader and loved solving challenging crossword puzzles.   Ruth loved her many cats and dogs.

The family would like to thank the many skilled workers at The Village at Waterman Lake in RI who cared for Ruth during her illness.

There will be no calling hours.  A family gathering will be at a later date.  Memorial contributions can be made to the Chaplin Senior Center at 132 Chaplin Street, Chaplin, CT 06235.
