It is with great sadness that we have to announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, & friend, Roger Harbec. Roger passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 peacefully surrounded by family. He was predeceased by his parents Leo and Aurore (Ouellette) Harbec.
Roger was born and raised in Willimantic, attended Windham High School, class of 1966. Roger married the love of his life, Janice Durkin on October 3, 1967, they went on to have 3 wonderful children: Lisa Vivenzio and her husband Vincent of Chester, NJ, Douglas Harbec and his wife Laura of East Hampton, CT, and Summer Harbec and fiancé Ray Fournier of Windham, CT.
Roger went on to become a steamfitter welder following in his father’s trade. Roger played in multiple bands throughout his life, longest one being the “Misty Blues”. He loved the New York Giants and Dale Earnhardt, Sr. of the NASCAR racing team.
When the children were younger it was trips to the beach every weekend with groups of friends and their children with activities that included playing football on the beach or flying kites.
Roger is also survived by his beloved grandchildren who were the light of his life: Leo Harbec, Lance Roger Harbec, Annabella Vivenzio and Savannah Shea. Also surviving Roger are his four brothers, Albert Harbec, Frank Harbec, Alan Harbec and Kenneth Harbec, numerous nieces and nephews and so many friends. He will greatly be missed by all.
Roger’s family will receive family and friends on Wednesday, October 5th from 5pm -7pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. Willimantic, CT. His Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, October 6th at 10am at St. Mary’s Church, Valley St., Willimantic, burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.
