Robert George Lawlor, 89, of Hampton, beloved husband for 68 years of Maureen (Brink) Lawlor, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 14, 2023. He was born in Hartford on February 22, 1934, son of the late Clayton and Lucille (Peloso) Lawlor.
Robert was raised in Hartford and attended Hartford Public Schools. Robert enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1955 and served in the Korean War. When he returned home he joined the family photography business alongside his brother where they worked together for the next 20 years. Then, he continued the family business on his own until retirement. He was an avid fan of baseball and the New York Yankees which led him to coaching little league for many years. He also had a passion for the outdoors, specifically hunting and fishing which ultimately led to him and his wife building their dream house, which they referred to as their “Little Piece of Heaven.” He was a lifetime member of the Windsor Rod and Gun Club alongside his brother Richard. Upon retirement, his biggest joy was watching his grandkids excel in both academics and athletics. Every weekend he could always be found at the nearest basketball court or soccer field cheering them on. Above all, he was an amazing, kind and gentle soul. He showed genuine interest with who ever he was talking to and would be the first to give the shirt off his back.
Besides his loving wife Maureen, he leaves behind three children, Nanci Lawlor, Kathy Sweet and partner Bill Smith, Robert Lawlor and wife Stephanie; 12 grandchildren, Dennis and wife Sharon, Tara and husband Robert, Mikey (pre-deceased), Matthew, Kylie, Nicole, Ashleigh and husband Jason, Courtney, Morgan and husband Jesse, Jonathan and wife Samantha, Deanna and fiancé Max and Skylar and 14 great grandchildren, Emilie, Collin, Dylan, Alex, Conlin, Lexie, Abigail, Quinn, Annie, Jack, Teagan, Killian, Rowan and Colette. He also leaves behind his sister- in- law, Mary Ellen, who always held a special place in his heart. Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased by his brother, Richard and sister Joan. The services will be private.
