Robert “Bob” Joseph Coollick, 77, of Mansfield Center, CT, beloved husband, father, grandfather, godfather and friend passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on April 24, 2023.
Bob worked for the State of Connecticut at the Mansfield Training School in the food service industry, eventually retiring from the Connecticut State Department of Corrections as the Food Service Manager. He was very proud of his military service in the CT National Guard. He served in many roles in the community throughout the years including the Willimantic Lions Club, Masons, and the Elks club, and was mostly recently a member of the Danielson Elks Lodge. Bob loved spending time with his grandchildren, his dogs, and traveling in his RV where he made so many friends along the way.
Bob will be remembered by all for his unique voice, the kind of voice you could identify by ear without seeing him, the flat cap that he always wore, his outrageous, almost believable bologna stories and tall tales to make you stop and question if it were true and then laugh outrageously, and without a doubt, the classic Dunkin’ Donuts coffee cup that never left his hand.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 46 years Linda (Sorel) Coollick; son, Sean Weed and wife Melanie Weed; daughter, Emily Coollick; grandchildren, Delano Coollick-Thomas, Taylor Weed, Zachary Weed, Emma Coollick-Sarita and Anya Coollick-Sarita. He also leaves behind his niece and nephew and several friends. Bob was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Juliette (Brusko) Coollick, his brother Richard Coollick and sister-in-law Lorraine.
Bob’s family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, April 30, 2023 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson street (Rte. 195) Willimantic, CT. A graveside service will be held Monday, May 1, 2023 at 10:00am at Scotland Cemetery, Rte. 97. Scotland.
