Richard M. Remsen

Richard M. Remsen, 82, of Columbia, passed away peacefully into the hands of our Lord on March 21, 2021. 

Richard “Dick” was predeceased by his beloved wife Esther A. (Gurka) Remsen.  He was the son of the late Elmer and Veronica Remsen.                                                                                                                                                 

He worked many years at Lydall Corporation and retired from The Metropolitan District (MDC). 

Dick built his house in Columbia where he and Esther raised their four children.  He derived a lot of pleasure from working in his yard.  He also enjoyed traveling which included visiting nearly every US state and much of Europe. Richard enjoyed good food and spending time with family and friends.  He loved God and enjoyed studying the bible.  He will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his children Maureen Vernale and her husband John, Dawn Bays and her husband Samuel, Richard Remsen and his wife Lisa, and Colleen Tardif and her husband Keith; his granddaughter Victoria Remsen.  He is also survived by his brother Elmer Remsen and his wife Muriel, his brother Daniel Remsen and his sister Sherrill Mott.  He also leaves a very dear friend Mary Willis.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, March 30th from 9:00 am – 11:00 am with a funeral service immediately following at The Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson Street, Willimantic, CT.  A private family burial will be held Friday, April 2nd.  Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.  To sign an online guestbook visit www.potterfuneralhome.com
