Peter W. Rich

Peter W. Rich, 82, of Mansfield, CT passed away unexpectedly from natural causes on January 9, 2022.  Peter was born in Willimantic, CT, the son of the late Raymond and Elizabeth (Millerd) Rich.  Peter graduated from Windham High School and went on to join the U.S. Navy stationed on submarines as a cook and a diver, eventually joining the Reserves.  Peter married his high school sweetheart and best friend, Barbara Randall, and together they raised a family while becoming successful real estate investors. They were lifelong members of The Hartford Club. Peter was a hard worker, had a fantastic sense of humor, he was very generous and had a caring heart for those in need.  He also enjoyed helping his community and was a member of the Willimantic Rotary. Peter loved baseball, UCONN women's basketball, hunting & fishing, but most of all he loved riding his motorcycles.  For a short time he had his own motorcycle repair shop called Pete's Cycle Parts.  He was a member of the Eastern CT Riders.  He was also a member of the Fin, Fur & Feather Club and Bozrah Rod & Gun Club.   He leaves behind his daughter, Leslie Rich of Windham, his brother Tim Rich of Willimantic, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many friends.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.  He was one in a million.  Peter was predeceased by his wife Barbara Rich, his son Peter W. Rich, Jr., and his sister Donna Larsen. 

 Calling hours will be held at Potter Funeral Home, Willimantic, on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 from 4pm-6pm. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at 1pm at the New Willimantic Cemetery, Rt. 32, Willimantic, assembly for procession to the cemetery will be at 12:30pm at Potter Funeral Home.
