Norma D. Caballero, 68 of Willimantic, Connecticut passed away peacefully in her home and surrounded by her loved ones on June 12th, 2020.
Norma was born on May 16,1952 in Puerto Armuelles, Panama. She was the late daughter of Juan and Rosa Vargas. Norma was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her loving husband Juventino Caballero, her three children which she adored: Evelyn Caballero and her husband Luis Rivera, Oxander Caballero, and Jaclyn Chaparro, along with her three grandchildren that idolized her: Jassiel Chaparro, Diego Caballero, and Laisha Chaparro. Lastly her beloved siblings, Gladys Vargas, Herenia Vargas, and Arturo Vargas.
When Norma was a young girl her parents bought a farm in Sigoui, Panama. She was always a responsible daughter that would help her parents care for the animals and land. She attended the University of Panama and obtained a Master’s degree in Mathematics. She went on to teaching at a high school level. In her mid 30’s she migrated with her husband and her three children to Willimantic, Connecticut. She built a beautiful life here with her husband and children. She was an enthusiast of the outdoors. She loved to grow her own garden and vegetables. She loved to swim at the beach, pack up for camping trips with her family, do puzzles, sewing, being crafty around the house, and more importantly she loved to have her family over for gatherings and dinners. Her favorite holiday was Christmas. She would decorate her house in and out and would make sure it was the most bright and festive on the block. Norma also enjoyed getting up early on Sundays to get the best treasures at the flea market and she loved to travel to her beloved Panama where she and her husband had built a home on her family’s land.
Norma was everything you could imagine a quality woman to be. She was beautiful in and out, smart, selfless, loving, caring, creative, funny, vibrant, and welcoming. She was the heartbeat of her family and she will be missed more than any words can ever describe. Rest In Peace and until we see you again.
Norma's calling hours and funeral service will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the American Cancer Society (Cancer.org).
