Michael Paul Vignone, 57, of Willimantic, CT, passed away on July 18, 2021 at Hartford Hospital. He was born on December 26, 1963 in Hartford, CT, the son of Michael Vignone and Anne (Rago) Monroe.
Michael worked at P&J Sprinkler Company/Impact Fire for his 40-year professional career as a sprinkler fitter and backflow technician. There aren’t many people who would dedicate their entire working career with the same company. He was the Godfather of the family. Like all families, we laughed, loved, fought, screamed, and hugged. Aside from all of us in the company experiencing a loss like no other we have felt, many customers will miss Viggy’s pleasant, easy going, infectious personality. He could drive to any customer site throughout CT without GPS, know the names, phone numbers, and fire alarm accounts on memory, and the best grinder spots. His rough and raw exterior was his cover for his gentle, kind, giving, and caring persona.
Throughout the years in Michael’s free time he would coach his son in little league and spend time with friends at his favorite spot, the French Club. He would root for his favorite teams like the Cowboys, Rangers, Redsox, Knicks, and of course the UConn Huskies. He was the friend of many and had many friends. Michael was a master jokesmith, a master craftsman as his trade, a musical savant in classic and metal rock n rock. Michael was always the life of the party.
Michael is survived by his loving son Eric Vignone; brother Stephen Vignone; father Michael Vignone, Sr.; mother Anne Monroe and her husband Harold; Uncle Tony Rago, Jr. and his wife Harriet from Leland, NC; several cousins; and a loving companion Kay Haddad Silver. Michael’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, July 22, 2021 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. Willimantic. A private burial will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham.
