Mary Checco Gawlicki, 73, of Storrs, CT, wife of 43 years to her loving husband, Ted, died Friday, May 26, 2023, at St. Francis Hospital after an inspirational, decade long fight with serious heart and lung disease.
Mary was President of Corporate Translations, Inc. which she and her husband grew from an idea in their basement into a $40mm business which was a preeminent firm in its industry. She subsequently co-founded The Gawlicki Family Foundation which focuses on the education of the children of Hartford.
She was one of the strongest women both in terms of her fight and her compassion. Mary never let her health get her down and was still doing her daily walks through the local Price Chopper until the very end. Her compassion and kindness for others was unmatched and she dedicated her entire life to helping others in any way she possibly could. In fact, her desire to start her first company was driven by the need to provide dependable and secure jobs for others to succeed and she moved on from there to start a foundation to make even more of a difference and impact on her community.
A mother and wife that could change the world. Mary was able to bring all personalities together. She just had that gift. Everyone around her wanted to be better and work harder. She knew how to get the best out of everyone.
In addition to her husband, Ted, she is survived by a daughter, Emily Potz and her husband, Tyler, and her grandchildren, Russell and Thomas, of Mansfield Center; son, Matthew Gawlicki, of Farmington; three sisters, Margaret Rosner and her husband, Jeff, of Carrollton, VA, Amy Rolleri and her husband, Ron Butchart, of Skaneateles, NY and Sarah Goode and her husband, Kevin, of Skaneateles, NY; sister-in-law, Patricia Pellettier and her husband, Robert, of Ellington; brother-in-law, Scott Gawlicki, of Jackson Heights, NY and many nieces and nephews and their children.
