Louise Ratcliffe Obituary

Louise (Potz) Ratcliffe (May 23, 1944 - December 23, 2021)

Louise Ratcliffe passed away peacefully on December 23rd.  She was 77.

Louise was predeceased by her parents David F. & Marion Potz, and her brother David Potz Jr., of Willington.  She is survived by her loving sister and friend Nancy (Potz) Smith of Willington.  She is also survived by all of her children and grandchildren; Cathy Tate and her husband William Tate of Hebron, their children Nicholas, Mary, Trevor, Ryan and Amanda Tate.  Sharon Ryscavage of Enfield and her sons Eric and Kevin Ryscavage.  Tom Snyder and his wife Nicole of Willington and their children Dylan and Sierra Snyder.  James Snyder and wife Rosana Snyder of Arvada, Colorado and their children Kellan and Marlowe Snyder.

Louise is also survived by many loving friends, notably some of her closest friends in Jill Welch, Geri Dolan, Kit DiNocenza, Cathy Hastings and the rest of the Mahjong Mamas.

She was a wonderful mother, an amazing grandmother and a terrific friend.  Always full of positivity and joy, and was someone who intentionally brought happiness to all those around her.  Louise was independent and assertive, always being the best mother she could be for her children.  Raising children mostly on her own, she demanded manners, respect of elders, a strong work ethic, and kindness.  Throughout her life things were not always easy, her strong sense of self and goodness always pulled her through with respect and dignity.  Family and Friends were her pride and joy.

Louise was a long time employee of the Connecticut State Police serving as a dispatch supervisor at the State Police headquarters in Meriden.

There will be no calling hours.  Services were determined by the happy way she always lived her life.  There will be a celebration of life for Louise on Sunday, February 6th from noon to 5pm at The Lodge at Crandall Park in Tolland.  You can contact Cathy Tate at 860-690-9960 or visit (http://evite.me/UVjmyDrcYf) for more details.
