Louise Carmella (Cuddihee) Muzin

October 7, 1950 ~ April 26, 2021 (age 70)

Louise Muzin, 70, of Columbia, CT passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 26, 2021, following a battle with lung cancer.

Born in Bridgeport, CT on October 7, 1950, she was the daughter of Robert and Carmella “Mollie” (Cravero) Cuddihee.  She grew up in Stratford, CT, graduating from Bunnell High School in 1968, the University of Connecticut in 1972 with a Bachelor’s in Education, and received her Master’s in Education from Southern Connecticut State University.

Louise was a special education teacher in the Manchester school system for 34 years, but the most important thing in her life was always her family.  She was an incredible wife, mother, and more recently, grandmother.  She met the love of her life, Bill, at UConn in 1969, and married in 1974.  They were true partners and best friends; as she told the nursing staff caring for her, she “had been married for 46 years and loved him every day.”  Louise was a loving and supportive mother to her two boys, Matthew and Patrick, and had special relationships with her daughter-in-laws, Jenna and Megan – a group she referred to as her “four kids.”  Louise was overjoyed to become “Nonna” in 2017, and “Wednesdays with Maggie” became their special bonding time.  They enjoyed reading, snuggling, going for walks and to the playground and library.  Louise’s favorite time was family time – holidays, vacations, or just any time when we were all together talking, joking, and laughing as a family.

Louise was very much a people person, with hundreds of friends.  After talking with Louise for 10 minutes people felt as if they’d been friends forever.  Many refer to her as a “best friend,” a testament to her loyalty and attentiveness.  She was a very generous, loving person, with an infectious smile and laugh, who always thought about others before she thought about herself.  She was very active and loved biking, golf, playing cards, bowling, and bocce with those she loved.  She was famous for her Christmas cookies, baking several different kinds that her family and friends all enjoyed.

She is survived by her brother Robert W. Cuddihee and wife Judy of Hamden, CT, her husband Bill, her two sons, Matthew and wife Jenna (Nichols) from Charlotte, N.C. and Patrick and his wife Megan (Yanavich) and daughter Maggie from Mystic, CT.

Services will be held on Friday, April 30th at 12:00pm at Church of the Holy Family, 185 Church St, Hebron, CT.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation can be made to the Mystic & Noank Library,
