Joseph Labrecque Obituary

Joseph A. Labrecque, 90, of Coventry, CT passed away on August 14, 2021, peacefully with his wife of 67 years, Pat, by his side. He was born in Fall River, MA, on April 20, 1931 to Amedee and Leda (Changon) Labrecque. He spent his childhood years living in the Fall River area along with his brothers Edmond, Edward, Albert, and sisters Rita, Nella, Alice and Claire. He was known as Andy by them and his many nieces and nephews. He moved to CT in 1950. He was married July 31, 1954 to Patricia Machado and together they raised four children.  Joe was a 25 year veteran of the Newington Police Department and in retirement owned a small photograph shop in Berlin. He enjoyed his family, woodworking, photography, gardening and building model boats. One of the most admirable gifts our father gave us over the past few years, is when diagnosed with CMT a form of MD in his seventies, he never complained, never said why me, but he was grateful for having lead a full life up until then, was grateful for what he could still do, and thankful he was 70 not 7. His heart went out to the children with MD that would never be able to do what he had done. As he lost the use of his legs and arms and the ability to do the things he loved, he still never complained and found comfort in his family.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia A. Machado; his sister Alice; his children, Kathy Barnett and husband David, Patty Rossignol and husband Rick, Paul Labrecque and wife Christine, and Jim Labrecque and wife Cindy; 7 grandchildren, Melissa and husband Vinny, Greg and wife Laura, Michael, Dan and wife Courtney, Bridgette and husband Matt, Andrew and wife Ashley, and Kim; 10 great grandchildren, Jordon, Jillian, Bryce, Colin, Jackson, Jackie, Peighton, Elise, Dylan, and Brandon.

There will be no calling hours. The Funeral Mass will be on Friday, August 20, 2021 at 10:00 am at Annunciation Parish-Holy Spirit in Newington, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.   To sign an online guestbook visit www.potterfuneralhome.com
