It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jose A. Feliciano, fondly known as Joe, on August 7, 2023. Born on October 11, 1945, in Barrio Atalaya de Aguada, Puerto Rico. Jose was a man of immense kindness, friendliness, and a zest for life that touched everyone he met. He passed away suddenly from a heart attack at his home in Windham, CT.
Jose was the beloved son of Ramon Feliciano Orama, and Carmen Maria Matos Feliciano. He leaves his wife of over 55 years, Linda (Berube) Feliciano. Jose was a loving father to his daughters, Lynn Feliciano, of Kissimmee, FL, and Ariana de Sousa (Paul) of Curacao. He was a proud grandfather to Daniel Ramos (partner, Roberto Aponte), and their son Alex, and granddaughter, Kalyana Ferguson (Jairett) and great grandson, Kashious, all of FL, and granddaughter Giada-Isabella, and grandson Tristan de Sousa of Curacao. Jose was predeceased by his parents, Ramon and Carmen, and brother to Iris Arbonies (Arnaldo), Carmen Gonzalez (Oscar), Amparo Alvarez (Francisco), Rosalina Feliciano (Victor Rodriguez), and Ismael Feliciano (Esther Feliciano). He also leaves his stepmother, Milagros Rodriguez, and his younger siblings, Ada Altiery (Alberto), Ramon Feliciano (Sonia), Sandra Feliciano (Ramon Ruiz), Awilda Bonilla (Nelson), Roberto Feliciano, Noel Feliciano, and Elissette Feliciano (Oscar Hernandez). He was Godfather to Arnaldo (Nany) Arbonies, Jr. and Brenda Bishop, and leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws on both sides of his extended family, both on the Berube and Feliciano side.
Jose was deeply involved in his community, serving as a Eucharistic Minister for many years at St. Mary's Church in Willimantic. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he was a dedicated 3rd Degree Knight of the Order of the Knights of Columbus. Jose's love for his community was only surpassed by his love for his family and friends. He enjoyed nothing more than gathering with family and friends, always the life of the party, but his greatest joy was found in the company of his loved ones, especially with his daughters.
Jose's life was a testament to his strong character and unwavering faith. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his name to the American Diabetes Association PO Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.
He was a man who lived life to the fullest, on his own terms, and without apologies, living by these words:
“I had my first one, I had my last one……”
“the ones in the middle didn’t count!” GOODNIGHT!!!
