Jorge Alvarez

Jorge Alvarez, a machine operator and a resident of North Windham, CT, passed unexpectedly on July 2nd, 2021 at the age of 51.  

Jorge is survived by his mother, Florenica Martinez; his wife, Gladys Alvarez (Gutierrez); his children, Jorge Alvarez, Natalie Vazquez (Alvarez), and Kayla Alvarez; his grandchildren, Natalya Torres and Sebastian Vazquez; his 8 siblings, Maria Elena Berrones, Juan Fidel Alvarez, Jose Angel Alvarez, Daniel Alvarez, Consuelo Alvarez, Javier Alvarez, Lidia Alvarez, and Alma Elizabeth Alvarez. He is predeceased by his father, Juan Alvarez; his siblings, Virginia Alvarez and Samuel Alvarez.  

Jorge was born in Mexico on March 17th, 1970 to Florencia Martinez and Juan Alvarez. His highest level of education was 9th grade. He then decided to come to the United States at the age of 14, in search for the American Dream.  In 1989, is when he met the love of his life, Gladys Alvarez and on October 28th, 1989 he decided to tied the knot. On July 5th 1990, they had a beautiful son, Jorge Emanuel Alvarez Jr., and a couple years later on April 5th, 1992, they had a daughter, Natalie Alvarez. Six years later, they completed the family with another daughter on September 15th, 1998, Kayla Alvarez. His family was the love of his life.  

Jorge was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed doing yard work with his wife, and spending time with his grandchildren. Every Sunday, he and his wife would go to Dunkin Donuts to get a coffee and sit by the Mansfield Hollow Dam. Jorge loved spending time with his grandchildren, and face-timing them every night. He never went a day without seeing them. Jorge was a man of his words, and had a heart of gold. Everyone who knew him, knew he was one of a kind. Sometime we wondered, “How could he hold so much love.” He was very humble and hardworking. Jorge worked 25 years at Scotts Company; his second home. Jorge’s outlook in life was, “life is too short to stay mad.” He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.  

Calling hours are scheduled from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Potter Funeral Home, and on Saturday, July 10th, a Funeral Mass will be held at Sagrado Corazon  De Jesus Church, 61 Club Road, Windham, CT at 11:00 a.m.
