Joan (Bousquet) Goodwin, 93, formerly of Ashford and Windham, passed away on June 29, 2021 at Douglas Manor. Joan was born in Stafford Springs on July 13, 1927, the daughter of the late Florence L. (Garvais) and Lionel Bousquet. She was predeceased by Lawrence Goodwin, her husband of 54 years. Also predeceased by foster son Peter Attardo and foster granddaughter Nicole Attardo Marley.
Joan worked alongside her husband on their poultry farm in Ashford. She enjoyed entertaining and hosted many gatherings for family and friends. After retiring, they spent many years in their second home in Inverness, Florida, where they also welcomed many family and guests. She loved to do many different crafts: sewing, rug braiding, embroidering, wedding cakes, knitting, painting, ceramics, but especially crocheting afghans and other things for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joan was a member of St. Joseph Church, Willimantic.
She is survived by her sons, Lawrence (Jill) and Earl (Yukie). Five grandchildren, Karen (J.C.), Jennifer, Scott, Ernest (Amy) and Andrew (Meghan). Six great-grandchildren, Kaylie, Emily, Brock, Ashley, Ryan, Sophie. Also foster son Louis Attardo (Pauline), his son Brian Attardo (Dawn) and son-in-law Leonard Marley, and grandchildren Samantha and Jacob Marley.
Joan’s calling hours will be held Thursday, July 8, 2021 from 5:00pm - 7:00pm, at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Willimantic. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated and live-streamed at www.catholicwindham.org on Friday, July 9, 2021 at 11:00am at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St,, Willimantic.
A graveside service will be held at a later date.
