Jeffrey C. “Jeff” Rawson, 51, of Chaplin, was taken from us on Sunday, May 1st, 2022.
He was a lifelong Connecticut resident, born on January 21st, 1971, in Manchester, he grew up in Willington and attended Windham High School with the graduating class of ‘89. Jeff excelled as high school all-star soccer player, traveling all over the US & Europe for league matches, becoming a star in his own right.
He worked his whole life as hard as he played having jobs as a plant manager for Village Springs Water Bottling Company (Willington); as an electrician for East Coast Site Controls (Hampton); and as a residential roofer before he ventured out on his own to become the handyman and general fix-it-all guy for local campgrounds, churches, and property owners.
Jeff was a life long fisherman, and he never travelled without a rod & reel. His favorite local fishing spot was Mansfield Hollow Pond but he could catch a fish in literally any body of water he cast into.
His love of fishing was only rivaled by his love of music - more specifically: the Grateful Dead. Jeff spent some time touring with the band as a DeadHead in his 20’s and then spent the rest of his life telling everyone why they were the greatest band ever.
Jeff loved music festivals, partying around bonfires, hiking, and riding quads. He loved his Jeeps - and other people’s Jeeps - and was the go-to guy for all complex mechanical questions his friends ran into.
He loved to laugh, dance, tell jokes, and wax philosophical with anyone who’d listen. And he was low-key genius. Incredibly smart and quick witted, he could carry a conversation with just about anybody. He was a party looking for a place to happen. And Jeff will be missed beyond measure.
He leaves behind his beloved daughter, Madeline N. Rawson of Chaplin; mother Carol and step-father Harold Streeter of Willington; father Ralph Rawson and step-mother Cheryl of Florida; and brother Eric Rawson of Connecticut. Jeff was predeceased by his brother Michael Rawson.
