Jeannine Blanchette Obituary

Jeannine Nicole (Roy) Blanchette ,75, of Willimantic, CT  died peacefully April 20, 2022 at Windham Hospital. 
She was born May 21, 1946 in Saint-Romain, Provence of Quebec, Canada before moving to Connecticut in 1966. 
She was predeceased by her mother, Jeannette (Couture) Roy in 1969, her father, Anatole Roy in 2008 and her husband of 43 years, Jean-Paul Blanchette in 2009. 
Jeannine is survived by her two daughters, Louise Blanchette and her partner, Timothy Hurst, Christine Werth and her husband, Steven; three grandchildren. Sandra Blanchette, Zachary Couch and Dylan Werth; a great grand daughter, Yaritza Pedraza and great grandson, Alijah Casanova. 
She is also survived by her brother, Raymond Roy of East Angus, PQ, Canada and sister, Louise (Roy) Me'nard of Sherbrooke, PQ, Canada as well as her brother-in-laws, Serge Blanchette and his wife, Mary of Chicopee, MA and Roger Blanchette and his wife, Debra of Chaplin, CT and many nieces and nephews in Canada and the United States. 
In Jeannine's lifetime, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother to her family.  She was beloved to her extended family for her kindness, sense of humor and her laughter that was enjoyed by all those who kew her.
 She and her husband gained their United States citizenship together in 1974. 
She was employed as a housekeeper at Canterbury Villa (Vanderman Place) in Willimantic from 1977 to 1988. She then was employed doing housekeeping  and laundry at Saint Joseph Living Center from 1988 until she retired in 2008.
 Jeannine loved her sports especially the Uconn basketball teams, Canadian hockey teams and American football.  She also enjoyed watching the Hallmark Channel and game shows. She adored Celine Dion and polka music as well as Elvis Presley, and when her husband would play his guitar for her pleasure.
 She was her daughters and grand children's biggest fan as they participated in basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball and bowling tournaments. 
The family would like to thank the staff of both Vanderman Place and Windham Hospital for the wonderful care they gave to Jeannine. 
The family will receive family and friends at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson Street (Rte. 195), Willimantic  on Saturday April 30th between 4:00pm and 6:00pm. Interment services will be private and at the convenience of the family. The family has requested any donations be made to the American Heart Association in her memory or masses be said in her memory at St. Mary Church or St. Joseph Church in Willimantic.
