James "Jim" McMahon, Jr. Obituary

James “Jim” Paul McMahon, Jr., 58, of Mansfield Center, CT passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at Hartford Hospital. Jim was born on January 20, 1964, in Springfield, MA to James Sr. and Sally McMahon. Throughout his career, he was a member of the PGA. He started his career at the Willimantic Country Club as Assistant Pro, and moved onto become Head Professional at Pautipaug Country Club; followed by being the Head Professional at Tower Ridge Country Club. He rounded out his career as the Director of Golf at Wampanoag Country Club in West Hartford, where he worked for 13 years. With his love of golf, he had a true passion for teaching the game. Each year he would run junior clinics, help coach local high school teams, and organize other charity events to help grow the sport. Jim was a friend to all, and he never forgot your name. He was tireless and hardworking, so much so that there were many times he would sleep in his office to get ready for the next day. His motto was: you never leave a job unfinished, and you persevere to get the job done! Jim was an avid sports fan beyond golf. He rooted for the New York Giants, along with the Boston Red Sox and would cheer for any team playing against the New York Yankees! He was a great supporter of UConn Athletics and enjoyed taking his family to many games and events over the years. His love of sports was only outweighed by his love and devotion for his family.

Jim was predeceased by his parents, Jim and Sally McMahon, his father-in-law, Alec David Chesmer, mother-in-law, Dorothy Chesmer, and brother-in-law, Arthur Breault. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Patricia Chesmer McMahon, their 3 sons, Brenden, Kyle, and Colby McMahon, and Kyle’s partner Natalie Bruneau; his sister, Natalie Donovan, her husband John and their children, Mike and his daughter Chloe, Christine, Kimberly, and Brady, and Kimberly’s husband Mike and their two sons Logan and Bennett; his two brothers, Shawn McMahon, his wife Patty and their 3 sons, Josh, Jeremy and Jonathan, Craig McMahon, and his wife Sue and their 2 sons, Dylan and Devin; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robin and Kathy Chesmer, and sister-in-law, Lynda Breault. Jim also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends.

The family would like to offer their appreciation and thanks to the Douglas Manor nursing staff, Marlborough Health and Rehabilitation Center, Windham Hospital, with a special gratitude to Dr. Michael Keenan, and the medical team at the Hartford Hospital ICU unit for their kindness, professionalism and invaluable support. A celebration of life will be held for family and friends on Saturday, May 14, 2022 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the Willimantic Country Club, Club Rd. Windham, CT.
