Obituary

James Robert Pestey of Franklin, CT passed unexpectedly at home on May 7, 2021 with his family by his side.

James was born in Hamden, CT on November 15, 1940 and was the son of George and Ellen Pestey. James spent his life on the road selling trucks for companies such as Brockway and Mack. When he was not striking a deal, he was stopping at every farm trying to find the best cow in the herd. His frequent favorites were Peila Brothers of Bernardston, MA and Woodmansee Farms of Preston, CT among many others in between.

Jim enjoyed drag racing fast cars in high school, meeting people from all walks of life, traveling the country with his beloved wife and spending time with friends and family, especially at local fairs and cattle shows. He was stubborn yet witty and enjoyed a good laugh with anyone that stopped to visit. Jim was hardworking and dedicated to his family, raising four strong men.  He will be truly missed by each and every one whose lives he has touched.

James is predeceased by his wife of 52 years Joan Marie (Cadwell) Pestey, and his parents George and Ellen Pestey. James is survived by his sisters Janet Pestey of Wallingford, Margaret Pestey of Branford, and Patricia Goodfriend (Danny) of Flanders, New Jersey. He is also survived by his four sons, James Pestey Jr (Nancy) of Watertown, Michael Pestey (Gillian Lyon) of Lebanon, William Pestey (Jeannine) of Norwich, and Steven J. Pestey of Sunnyvale, CA. Additionally are his four granddaughters Brittany Guinan (Kevin) of Bozrah, Kelly Pestey, Madison Pestey, and Alli Pestey; and two great-grandchildren Aubreigh and Ryder Guinan, as well as many in laws, nieces, and nephews.

A private burial will be held with his family at the cemetery on a later date. To sign an online guestbook visit www.potterfuneralhome.com
