Helen T. Card, 94, of South Windham, CT passed away on July 18, 2021.
Helen was employed by the American Thread Company in Willimantic, CT and then she worked as the Administrative Assistant to the Dean of the UConn School of Allied Health until she retired. Helen was a life-long member of the First Congregational Church of South Windham where she held many leadership roles, such as, Deacon, Treasurer, Conference Delegate, Pastoral Committee, and the Women’s Guild. She also sang in the church choir with a beautiful soprano voice. Helen was also a life-long member of the Guilford Memorial Library of Obwebatuck Grange in South Windham. She was an avid bowler and a life member of the CT Women’s Bowling Assn. and a Hall of Fame Member. In her later years, Helen volunteered her time to the American Cancer Society by driving patients to their appointments and treatments. Helen loved her cats and the NY Yankees.
She is survived by her nephew E. Bruce Card and his wife Roberta; niece Claudine Iworsley; great nieces Michele Cone and her husband Rodney, Lynsey Card, and Dawn Kaplan and her husband Jonathan, Charity Lee, Destiny Ziolko, and Juleah Ziolko; great nephews Bruce E. Card and his wife Sue, Brian Gotch, and Elton Ziolko; as well as many grandnieces and grandnephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Edward A. Card; brother Elton Thompson; brother in law Everett E. Card and his wife Jane Clarke Card; sister in law Emma (Wilson) Thompson; nephew Robert A. Card and his wife Judy; and great nephew Wayne Rajewski.
Helen’s funeral service will be Thursday, July 22, 2021 at 10:00am at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. Willimantic. Her burial will follow at Windham Center Cemetery 219 Windham Center Rd.
