Helen Blair Boucher, 101, wife of the late Lloyd “Al” Boucher, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2024, at St. Joseph Living Center.
She was born in Willimantic on October 8, 1922 to Adelard “Cookie” and Margaret (Kelly) Blair. She was a graduate of Windham High School, Class of 1941. She was first employed by Ferringos Grocery Store in Willimantic, followed by the former Better Value in Mansfield for 20 years, then the Willimantic Savings Institute.
Helen was a member of St. Joseph Church, which she attended faithfully. She was also a member of the Women of the Moose Club and Senior Region for many years. She loved her gardens, and going to the beach with family every weekend when her boys were small. Helen also enjoyed going out dancing every Saturday night with her husband and friends, cooking, baking, and hosting the family holidays. Even at 100 years old, she would still faithfully watch the UConn Women’s basketball games.
The family wishes to thank the nurses, CNAs, and staff at the St. Joseph Living Center for all the kind care that was given to her.
Helen is survived by her son, Alan Boucher, and fiance Jackie Hollis of Franklin, CT. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Lindsay and John Furtado of Rhode Island, Benjamin Boucher of Willimantic, and Andrea Boucher of Willimantic; two great granddaughters, Natalia and Briella. Also left are a very close niece, Judy Blair, who was always spending time with her, a nephew Edward Blair, and niece Sandra Lamotte, along with numerous great nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son, James Boucher, granddaughter Bethaney Boucher, brother Roland Blair, and sister Evelyn Blair Sciro.
Relatives and friends may gather on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 from 9:30 to 10:30 am at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St, Willimantic. A mass will then be held at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St., Willimantic, immediately followed by burial at St. Joseph Cemetery, located on Club Rd., Willimantic.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph Church, per her request.
