Gregory Owens Obituary

Owens, Gregory C. 71, of Willimantic Connecticut departed peacefully on January 27, 2021. Born on July 4, 1949, Gregory was the son of Robert Lee and Willie Mae (Champion) Owens. In addition to being a loving partner to Mary L. Bruttomesso, his most important role was father of: Sherone Harden, Tasha, Keisha, Takaya (Christina), Gregory J., and Christina Owens. Known for his witty sense of humor, Gregory was abundantly loved.

Taking life slowly, Gregory enjoyed observing his African Cichlids fish swim. Not one to shy away from a risk, whenever his hand itches, he would "run up to the casinos" and play lotto. Scratch off tickets were his FAVORITE. In love with music, Gregory listened to endless hours of Jonthan Butler,Kenny G, Najee, Will Downing and Wynton Marsalis.

Affectionately known as “Dirty Buddy”, “Pop POP”, or “O.G”. Gregory is survived by his siblings Patsy Owens, Marcia Herring, Bernadine Calixte, and Alan Evans. Grandchildren: Caroline Swift, Savannah Owens, Trey Hall, Isaiah, Iyasia, and Iyanna Torres, and Gregory J. Owens Jr; a host of nieces and nephews. Gregory was predeceased by his parents, twin daughters (Tasha & Keisha), partner Mary, and grandchild Issac Torres. Undoubtedly, Gregory will be missed by family and members of the AA/NA community who have supported him throughout his sobriety.
