Doris "Skip" Holmes, 100, of Mansfield Center, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 10, 2019 after a short illness. She was born June 8, 1918 in Holyoke, Massachusetts to the late Riley and Emma (Holmes) Holmes. She grew up bringing joy to all who knew her. Skip was the 1st woman to fly solo from Windham Airport, and bowled 42 years in Duckpin Bowling League only stopping in her 90's. She enjoyed crafts and routinely did them to bring joy to other people.
Even though she could not attend the church, she worked to support them the best she was able. For many years the highlight of her day was going to Olympic Restaurant to enjoy a meal and see Angelo, Diro and the staff, who all affectionately knew her as Mom.
Doris was predeceased in death by her late husband George Holmes and is survived by her devoted daughters Linda May Holmes of Mansfield and Carol A. (Holmes) Franklin of Storrs Mansfield, and granddaughter Shavon Ann Franklin of Bourbonnais, Illinois.
