Obituary

Donald Murray Clauson, known affectionately to all as Donny, passed away on August 20, 2023, in New Britain, CT. Born on November 1, 1947 in Willimantic, CT, to Grace (Standish) Clauson and Herbert Clauson, Donny lived a life filled with kindness and a gentle spirit.

Donny was a loyal and dedicated family man, predeceased by his parents, and is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Deborah (Macha) Clauson. He was a beloved brother to Leonard Clauson, Linda (Clauson) Brett, and Michael Clauson. Donny was a proud father to his daughters, Donna (Clauson) Hendry and Kathy (Clauson) Scott, and a doting grandfather to his granddaughters, Elizabeth and Emily Hendry.

A graduate of Windham Regional Technical School in Automotive in 1965, Donny used his skills to serve his country as a member of the US Army from 1966 to 1969. After his service, he continued to utilize his talents and contribute to his community through his work with the Connecticut State Department of Transportation for several decades. His colleagues knew him as a diligent and dedicated worker who took pride in his craft.

Donny was a man of diverse interests. His love for nature was unmatched, reveling in the beauty and peacefulness it offered. He was a classic car enthusiast, sharing his passion with fellow car club members and often seen working on projects in his garage. His interest in cars wasn't just recreational; he was known to lend his skills to others needing mechanical repairs, a testament to his handy nature, and his desire to help others.

Donny was not just a family man, but a friend to everyone. His kindness and gentleness were admired by all who knew him. He was a genuine person who never failed to lend a helping hand or share a kind word. His generosity extended beyond his family, touching the lives of everyone he encountered. Donald Murray Clauson was a man of integrity, kindness, and incredible strength. He leaves behind a legacy that reflects his love for his family, his passion for his hobbies, and his service to his country and community. His passing leaves a void that will be hard to fill, but his memory will continue to live in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. May his spirit forever remind us of the importance of family, the joy of following our passions, and the value of kindness.
