Dean John Vertefeuille, 66, of Willimantic, died unexpectedly on November 20, 2023. He was born October 14, 1957 in Willimantic to Elizabeth (Clauson) and Edmond (Mike) Vertefeuille. He is proceeded in death by his parents and brother. He is survived by his son Benjamin Vertefeuille of Chaplin, as well as many cousins and extended family.
Dean was a lifelong member of the Ebenezer Lutheran Church of Willimantic. Dean also volunteered in other ways. He was a longtime volunteer of the Windham (Special Olympics) Invitational Swim Meet and was also known as ‘Yazzo’ the Clown and could be found making balloon animals at church and other town events. Dean was an avid bowler and could often be found at Lucky Strike Lanes. He enjoyed participating in leagues and tournaments there. He loved Bingo at the Elks, and the Red Sox. Dean never met a person he didn’t want to talk with and had a heart of gold. Dean will be missed by many.
There will be no calling hours. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 1:00pm at the Ebenezer Lutheran Church located on the corner of Summit and Oak Streets in Willimantic. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to: Special Olympics Swim Meet Windham (c/o Rick Reuf, 4 Yeomans Road, Columbia, CT 06237).
