Carolyn Wyn Crossgrove passed away on June 14, 2021, after a 7-month battle against pancreatic cancer. Born in Brooklyn, NY in 1956, Carolyn moved to Storrs with her family in 1968 and attended E. O. Smith high school.
Carolyn was known for her warmly friendly, sunny, and gregarious personality. She invariably remembered and was interested in new friends and old, however long ago she had last seen them. She loved bright colors and patterns and collected vibrant fabrics for her sewing projects. Her hobbies and favorite pastimes were numerous; coloring, crafting, quilting, thrifting and tag sales, music and choral singing, theatre, and a pure love of plants, animals, and nature in general. She loved spending time with her good friends and family, going on nature walks, taking trips with the Senior Center, and keeping up with local news and activities. She kept numerous notebooks, where she recorded friends, she encountered that day, favorite jokes, her own poems, and good advice.
She is survived by her daughter, Cathy (Curtis) Ross, siblings Chris (Shoshana) Crossgrove, Cathy Crossgrove, Camilla Crossgrove, Carl Crossgrove, and nephew Jeremy (Denise) Crossgrove. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Wynona Crossgrove, and a brother, Cory Crossgrove.
In lieu of flowers, please consider planting a perennial plant or flower, hanging a bird feeder or donating to your local nature preserve in her memory.
A celebration of Carolyn’s life will be planned for a later date.
