Barbara Vajnar Obituary

Barbara Vajnar, 66, of Lebanon, CT, passed away on July 1, 2022. She was born in Hartford, CT, the daughter of Judith (Thompson) Bell and the late David N. Bell Sr.

Barbara was an avid lover of antiques and early americana memorabilia. Her home was filled with unique items and pieces which were found at auctions or handed down through her family. Since childhood, she had an interest in miniature dollhouse furniture, this interest continued into adulthood, where she started building furniture from kits that she picked up at hobby shops or online. She also made fruits and vegetables out of clay and other materials. She was so incredibly talented that her family encouraged her to sell her goods. A few years and an in-home workshop later, she began building furniture from scratch, and selling not only online through eBay, but at Miniature Dollhouse Shows as well. Barbara eventually started her own website and branded herself as Bubba’s Mini Country Cupboards. Bubba was a nickname, lovingly given to her by her father. She became well known in the hobby, making hundreds of friends from all over the world. She earned her place as an Artisan with the International Guild of Miniature Artists (IGMA).

As well as a talented artist, she was an amazing cook and baker. She made the best kinds of comfort food that you could eat, and her cookies at Christmas were the absolute best.

She will be most remembered as everyone’s “mom.”  She was always ready to welcome new friends into her home. People would come to just hang out but would never leave without her kind words of advice, some of her unfiltered humor, and a delicious meal in their belly. They did not have to leave; she would offer them a place to sleep for if that is what they needed. Her hugs were unmatched.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband and soulmate, Ronald Vajnar, her daughter Laura and her husband Tim Pallas of Hebron, CT, her daughter Kelly Vajnar and her partner Juan Florez of Lebanon, CT, her son Jared Vajnar and his wife Valerie of Columbia, CT. Her beloved grandchildren, Michaela Vajnar, Rebecca LeBlanc, Reagan and Cole Vajnar, and step-grandchildren Timmy and Madison Pallas. Her mother Judith Bell, her sisters Joyce Baker, Kim Bell, stepsister Jen Williams and their families, as well as many other extended family members.

She was predeceased by her father David N. Bell Sr, her brother David N. Bell Jr., and stepmother Sharon Bell.

Barbara’s services will be at the convenience of her family.
