Barbara Corey Obituary

Barbara R. Corey (Berry), beloved wife and mother, passed on November 23, 2022. She leaves behind Paul J. Corey, her high school sweetheart and husband of 62 years. Born in Boston on January 12, 1942, she lived most of her life in Dedham, Massachusetts. Barbara and Paul lived the last few years in Coventry, Connecticut.

Barbara proudly supported her community through many dedicated years at the Dedham Federal Credit Union, where she worked alongside her sister, Dianne Gava. Barbara and Paul were woven into the fabric of their Dedham community, working tirelessly on numerous organizations and boards. She selflessly and proudly supported her husband’s aspirations by volunteering as Convention Coordinator for the New England Council of the Painting and Decorating Contractors of America – an association that Barbara’s grandfather, father, and Paul belonged to.

The festive snowman collection and legendary five Christmas trees spread throughout her family home will forever be a reminder of Barbara’s love for holiday celebrations. Surrounded by all her family and friends. Barbara, also known as Mum and Nana, was always prepared with the kindest words, a huge hug, and an extra apron for baking with her six grandchildren; most of whom will forever hear her signature phone “hello” in their hearts whenever they celebrate a special milestone.

Over the course of her life, Barbara’s sweet soul created an extended network of friends who always became family. She was and is a role model for how to live with grace and generosity; and how to be an incredible wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend.

Barbara’s love will live on through her children; Paul J. Corey, Jr. and wife Rhonda, Edward Corey and wife Laurie, Catherine Beckius and husband Christopher, Jeannette Tuvey and husband Mike, and Kevin Corey. Her grandchildren were the light in her eyes; Corey Palmer, Haley Palmer, Timothy Corey and wife Katie, Kristine Corey, Allyson Adams and husband Drew, and Matthew Beckius. Her great-grandchildren, Bailey, Cooper and Preston gave her never-ending joy. Barbara’s remaining siblings are Harry Berry Jr and wife Diane, and Dianne Gava and husband Bob. Her passing will reunite with her late siblings, Clifford Berry and Janice Cooley. There are also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and loved ones left to celebrate Barbara’s beautiful life.

A celebration of Barbara’s life is being planned by the family. Please reach out to Cathy Beckius
(ccbeckius@comcast.net) or Jeannette Tuvey (j2vphoto@yahoo.com) for more information. Donations in Barbara’s name may be sent to: Dedham Historical Society and Museum | PO Box 215 | Dedham, MA 02027 https://dedhamhistorical.org/
