Agnes Gollner Obituary

Agnes V. (Hanson) Gollner, 92, formerly of Willimantic, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2019, at the Southington Care Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Arthur F. Gollner for 64 years. Born in Norwich, April 25, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Agnes (Franklin) and John Hanson. Agnes lived most of her life in Willimantic, working first as a switchboard operator at the former SNET Company. She was later employed at various retail stores, including Fisher's Big Wheel and Elm Supermarket, until her retirement at the age of 86 from Stop and Shop, where she worked for 30 years. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who enjoyed spending as much time with her family as possible. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa (Gollner) and Thomas Kuharski, of Southington, her granddaughter, Christina Kuharski, also of Southington, her brother, William Hanson, of Deltona, FL, as well as several special nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Jennie and Robert Ouellette, her brother and sister-in-law Edward and Olive Hanson, and her sister-in-law, Barbara Hanson.

 

Agnes's family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Southington Care Center for the love, kindness and exceptional care Agnes received while she was a resident there. Also, special thanks to the Hartford Health Care hospice team for the support and compassion shown to us during this difficult time. In addition, we would like to thank the staff of Douglas Manor for the wonderful care she received during her stay there, prior to her move to Southington.  Agnes’ family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, September 27, 2019 from 10:00am to 11:00am at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Willimantic, with her funeral service beginning at 11:00am.  Burial will follow at the New Willimantic Cemetery.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
