Zelma Mazjanis, 94, of Willimantic, widow of Martins Mazjanis, died Monday March 29, 2004 in Manchester. She was born October 5, 1909 in Latvia, the daughter of Martins and Minna Burkans and had lived in Willimantic since 1950. She was a member of the Latvian Lutheran Church in Willimantic and employed at the University of Connecticut for several years prior to her retirement. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Dzidra and Valdis Apinis of Vernon, 4 grandchildren, Andrew, Laura, Ronald and John, 3 great grandchildren, Heather, Jason and Evan. She was predeceased by a daughter, Aisma Mazjanis and 3 brothers. Funeral services will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Latvian Lutheran Church. Her family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the New Willimantic Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Latvian Lutheran Church, 76 Windham Rd.
