Wilmot F. Dyer, 94, of Windham, husband of Kathryn (Bartley) Dyer, died Sunday, August 03, 2008 in Windham. He was born December 24, 1913 in Chapman, Maine, the son of Harvey and Lucy Dyer and had lived in Mansfield and Windham most of his life. Wilmot was the oldest member of the United Methodist Church in Mansfield. Prior to his retirement he was employed as a machinist in several area manufacturing companies. He was a Ham Radio operator, a member of the Radio Relay League and served as their chaplain for a number of years. Wilmot was an avid and proud vegetable gardener who loved to show his garden to people. In addition to his wife of nearly 70 years he is survived by two children, Judith Dyer of Windham and James Dyer of Coventry, two sisters, June Bull of Bangor, ME and Loretta Hanscom of Londonderry, NH, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Ralph Dyer, a brother and three sisters. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic on Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. with funeral services beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the Storrs Cemetery.
