Willie Lee Spruell

Mr. Willie Lee Spruell, age 58, of Storrs, was born on January 28, 1952 in Refuge, Mississippi. He went to his eternal resting place on June 29, 2010. He was employed by University of Connecticut at the water treatment plant for 29 years. Willie was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Willimantic for many years and at the time of his death was serving as a deacon and head trustee and treasurer. He leaves his loving wife of 30 years Gloria Jean Spruell of Storrs, CT, two daughters, Ruth Rosellen Spruell and Willamina Denise Spruell of Willimantic, CT and his loving mother, Ms. Ruthie Mae Spruell of Greenville, Mississippi. His was predeceased by his father Willie Smith of Memphis, Tennessee. He is also survived by his stepmother Ruthie Smith of Memphis, a sister, Ruth Ann Porter of Panorama City, California three brothers, Robert Spruell and his wife Mary Ann, of Willimantic, CT. Roger Porter and his wife Emma, of Patterson, New Jersey, and Anthony Porter and his wife Cindy, of Wallingford, CT, his mother-in-law, Mrs. Rose Ellen Burgess of Norwich, CT, two sisters-in-law, Linda Williams and Teresa Keels of Norwich, CT. four brothers-in-law, William Burgess and his wife Valerie of Groton, CT. Franklin Burgess and his wife Sandra of Norwich, CT. Charles Burgess and his wife Michelle of Enfield, CT and Corey Burgess and his wife Shalimar of Norwich, CT. He is also survived by 5 uncles, 6 aunts, a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. His family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday July 7th between 10:00 and 11:00am at First Congregational Church, 199 Valley St. Willimantic with services beginning at 11:00am.
